If you don't have any idea of what style of wedding cake you want, that's fine. That's
what the design consultation is for! I'll make several sketches and show you options for cake, and I'm
sure together we'll create a cake you'll love!
To get started, begin looking at wedding books
and magazines to determine which styles of cakes you don't like. That will narrow
the design scope. We'll help you from this point, and design a cake that fits your style and budget! If possible,
bring a picture of your dress and a swatch of the material for color matching. Seeing your dress gives me insight into
your taste and style, the formality level of the wedding and may provide design elements for the cake itself.
One
of the main reason brides choose Gallery House to create their wedding cake is because we don't require you to pick from
standard cake designs. Even if you do start with a picture of a cake from a magazine or cake design book, we can modify it
to make it your own. You shouldn't see your cake at another wedding, because we make every effort to design a unique cake
that fits your desires, style and budget. If for some reason you do not choose us to bake your wedding cake, we appreciate
your not taking our designs to another baker/chef.
- Please note...as with many other cake designers
and bakers, I will not provide a wedding cake when kitchen, sheet or groom's cakes or fake/faux cakes are purchased or
provided by a different vendor. Please realize that I have worked very hard building my reputation on great tasting cakes
and I can't have your guests thinking that a cake from another vendor is something I produced. This protects the
reputation of both chefs/bakers. Thank you for understanding.
- I don't copy other people's work. If you have a picture that you'd like to use
for inspiration, that's fine. (The only exception is if you're wanting to copy your mother's wedding
cake.) Remember though, that pictures from magazines and books are rarely real cake. They're styrofoam dummies.
And every bride in the whole country is looking at the same magazines you are. Wouldn't you like to have a cake
designed just for your wedding? It doesn't cost any extra!
- This is a business in my home. Consultations are by appointment only. Please call to schedule an
appointment, 502.635.2550. I do not schedule appointments by email.
- If you need to call me, the only valid telephone number is the one on my business card, the same one that's all
over this website, 502.635.2550. If you call the number listed in the Louisville phone book for "Leah Stewart"
please be advised, that's NOT ME and I will not get the message.
- If you need to send me color swatches, pictures or anything else, please, please, please, staple it
to a card or paper with your name, phone number and wedding date on it. Please do not stuff a swatch of fabric
in an envelope with the message, "from Melissa" or "from Angela." (You're not the only
one . . .) The sample needs to be 2 inches by 2 inches.
- I schedule wedding consultations Sunday thru Wednesday, during the day and after work. Sundays are reserved
for out of town brides coming to Louisville for weekend wedding planning. I'm baking on Thursday, decorating on
Friday and delivering on Saturday. I will never schedule a consultation on Thursday, Friday or Saturday because I am
giving my complete attention to the details and artistry of the cake for those brides who have contracted with me for that
weekend--just as I will do with your cake on your weekend.

- After you've looked all around the website, and you're ready to make an appointment for a consultation and
tasting, please CALL. I do not schedule appointments
by email. It's a good idea to have your calendar in front of you so that you know your availability. I'll
also have several questions for you. I look forward to meeting you!
